Algae buildup is sneaky. It starts slow - a little green tint here, a dark streak there - and before long the whole house looks dingy. That's exactly what we were dealing with here. The siding had heavy algae growth running down the back of the house, especially on the upper half where moisture tends to sit longer and sunlight doesn't always reach.

The key with algae is that pressure alone won't do the job right. You can blast it all day and still leave roots behind in the siding. We combined power washing with proper scrubbing and used an extension wand to get up high without cutting corners. That upper section above the deck was pretty stubborn, but we worked through it methodically until the white came back.

What a lot of homeowners don't realize is that algae actually grips into the surface over time. The longer it sits, the harder it is to fully clear. Getting ahead of it - or just finally dealing with it when it's reached this stage - makes a real difference in how long the results last.

The garage got the same treatment. Before, the siding had that same dull, slightly green cast to it. After the wash, both the house and the detached garage came out looking clean and bright. Big two-story home, high peaks, all of it - nothing got skipped.

A full house wash like this is one of the better values in exterior maintenance. You're not just cleaning for looks. You're protecting the siding from the kind of long-term damage that algae and moisture can cause if left unchecked. Solid results on this one.
