Not every home looks like the one next door. This one has an octagonal footprint, decorative diamond and star inlays on the upper facade, a stone chimney with custom metalwork at the top, glass block windows, and board-and-batten wood siding that wraps around multiple angles and levels. It is genuinely one of a kind - and that means a standard paint job approach just does not cut it.

Before a single drop of paint went down, we started with a thorough wash of the entire exterior. Wood siding holds onto dirt, mildew, and oxidized paint in a way that will wreck a new finish if you skip that step. We took our time working section by section, making sure the surface was clean and ready to actually hold what we were putting on it.

Masking on a home like this is its own job. Every window - including the large glass block panels across the front - got covered with 3M masking film and taped off cleanly. Drop cloths went down across the walkways and entry areas. When you are working around original detail work and architectural features that somebody built by hand, you protect them like they matter. Because they do.

The color we applied - a deep, rich espresso brown - works with everything this home has going on. It ties the wood siding, the trim, and the structure together in a way that actually lets the design details show up instead of competing with them. That is what a well-chosen exterior color does on a home with this much character.

Custom homes like this do not get repainted very often, and when they do, the work needs to be done right. The prep, the masking, the product choice, the execution on all those angles and levels - it all has to come together. We are proud this homeowner trusted us with it.
