Exterior Painting on a Classic Brick Home Done Right

Painting a brick exterior is one of those jobs that looks straightforward until you're actually standing in front of it. Brick is porous, uneven, and holds onto old failing paint like it's got something to prove. Skip the prep, and you're just buying yourself a paint job that peels in a couple of seasons.

Here's what we were working with - a two-story brick home with wood trim, siding sections, railings, and a covered front porch. A lot of different surfaces, a lot of edges, and a lot of spots where old paint was losing the fight. Before any finish coat went down, we scraped back everything that was failing and made sure what we were working on was solid. Every window got masked with 3M film. Every surface got the attention it needed.

That masking step matters more than people realize. On a home with this many windows - and arched brick surrounds to work around - sloppy masking means paint where it shouldn't be. We take the time to do it right because cutting corners there shows up in the finished product every time.

The trim, porch ceiling, siding, and railings all got a clean, consistent white finish. The brick itself stays exposed - this wasn't a full brick paint situation - but the trim work pulls the whole exterior together and gives the home a sharp, well-maintained look that holds up over time. That's the goal on every exterior painting job we take on. Not just paint on a surface, but a finish that actually lasts.
