A basement flood leaves behind more than just wet floors. Once the water is gone and the mitigation crew has packed up, you're left staring at damaged drywall, stained block walls, and a space that just feels rough. That's exactly what we were working with here - flood damage that had done a number on both the drywall sections and the bare concrete block walls throughout the basement.

The drywall repair came first. Water-damaged drywall has to go. There's no patching over it and hoping for the best - if you leave compromised material in place, you're setting yourself up for mold problems down the road. We cut out what needed to go, brought it back to a solid, clean surface, and got it ready for paint.

For the block walls, regular interior paint just doesn't cut it in a basement environment. We went with Loxon - a product specifically engineered for masonry and below-grade conditions. It bonds hard to concrete block, handles moisture exposure, and builds a durable finish that standard paint won't give you. Two full coats on every wall. The difference between the before and after is stark.

What we ended up with is a basement that actually looks like it belongs to the house again. The drywall sections blend in cleanly, the block walls are bright and uniform, and the whole space feels sealed up and solid. That matters - especially when a homeowner is trying to move forward after something as stressful as a flood.

Water damage doesn't wait, and neither should the repairs. Whether it's drywall that got hit hard or bare masonry walls that need a proper protective finish, getting the right materials and the right process in place is what keeps problems from coming back.
